Cows, horses arrive in Bermuda
cows and two horses.
The container ship also off loaded 109 containers, including 16 refrigerated units, and two 40-foot containers of steel during its weekly stopover in Bermuda from Salem, New Jersey.
It arrived on Monday and departed early Tuesday morning, said Meyer Agencies spokesman George Butterfield.
In comparison the Oleander arrived from Port Elizabeth on Sunday with 116 dry containers, 39 refers, 13 flatbeds of structural steel and piping, two buses, 15 cars and a forklift.
Container Ship Management spokeswoman Glennis Dickenson said the ship left on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the MV Svitzer Mercator arrived at Penno's Wharf on May 27 and departed on May 29, continued Mr. Butterfield.
The vessel was on its way from New Orleans to Norway and stopped off for supplies, fuel and a crew change.
The cable ship Sir. Eric Sharpe returned to the Island on May 29 from cable repairs near Dominica, he added.
It has returned to station duty in Dockyard but could quite possibly sail next week for more cable repairs, this time on the eastern seaboard of the US.
And on May 31, Mr. Butterfield reported, the Canadian registered tug Toint Carroll arrived from Auld's Cove in Nova Scotia with a 373 net ton barge in tow.
It brought in a cargo of stone which it is off loading at Marginal Wharf in St. David's.
In other shipping news, the Song of America arrived in St. George's on Tuesday with 1,449 passengers on board, said John S. Darrell spokeswoman Maria MacPherson.
It switched to Hamilton yesterday morning and is scheduled to leave tomorrow afternoon.
And Mr. Butterfield said the Zenith and the Norwegian Crown arrived as scheduled on Monday from New York.
The Zenith berthed in Hamilton with 1,403 passengers and then sailed to St.
George's yesterday morning.
Meanwhile the Norwegian Crown berthed in St. George's with 968 passengers on board and shifted to Hamilton on Tuesday.
Both vessels are due to depart this afternoon.
On Tuesday, continued Mr.Butterfield, the Horizon arrived at King's Wharf in the West End with 1,349 passengers from Philadelphia on board.
The ship was due to shift to Hamilton today and depart tomorrow.
And the cable ship Agile was scheduled to arrive in the West End yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Butterfield said the ship was due to remain in Bermuda for ten to 15 days during which time it will off load its cargo of cable into storage bins in Dockyard.
It is scheduled to be joined in port on June 9 by the bulk carrier Baltimar Okeanos which will transfer a second load of cable to the Agile .
The Norwegian Crown also visited Bermuda this week from Boston but a passenger count was unavailable yesterday. It is understood to be around 1,083.
