Cruise ship pays farewell visit to the Island

Bermuda this week bids farewell to the cruise ship Meridian .The ship arrived on Tuesday with 1,062 passengers to pay her final visit to the Island.

The ship arrived on Tuesday with 1,062 passengers to pay her final visit to the Island.

She will set sail for Baltimore on Friday.

The Meridian was sold to Metro Holding Company and will head to Singapore where she will be refitted for Asian cruises.

The Zenith arrived in Hamilton on Monday with 1,371 passengers and shifted to St. George's yesterday. It is due to depart for New York today.

A representative from John S. Darrell could not be reached for comment of the Royal Majesty and Song of America . The Somers Isles arrived on Monday with 81 dry containers including ten refrigerated containers. It is due to leave this afternoon.

Also arriving on Monday was the Bermuda Islander with 105 containers including 15 refers and two bulls for a local farmer. It set sail the next morning.

The Oleander arrived on Sunday carrying 30 refers, 119 dry containers, four trailers of steel, two cars and three boats. The vessel departed on Tuesday.

In other shipping news, the Bermudian registered yacht Lone Ranger arrived on Sunday for some rest and relaxation.
