Cunard musical cruise makes waves in October
liner Queen Elizabeth 2 makes a round trip across the Atlantic.
On its westward voyage, the QE2 will take passengers on a ten-day "Big Bands at Sea'' cruise, leaving from Southampton in the UK on October 12 and stopping in Bermuda before continuing on to Miami, Florida.
A Cunard Press release said the cruise would include a "British flavour'' and "is the second longest running theme in the cruise industry''.
"It is the largest annual big band festival on land or sea,'' it stated, "and the line-up for last year included Ray Anthony, Larry Elgart, Bob Wilber and the Billy May Orchestra.'' Rates for this trip begin at $2,280 per person, double occupancy for the six-day voyage and $3,200 for the ten-day voyage.
The ship will make its second stop at the Island after it departs from Miami on a ten-day "Floating Jazz Festival'' cruise on October 27, bound back to England.
The trip would feature some of "the world's greatest jazz musicians'', adding that last year's line-up included the likes of Oscar Peterson, Etta Jones and Clarke Terry.
Rates begin at $2,620 per person, double occupancy for the seven-day cruise and $3,200 for the ten-day cruise.
