Disabled freighter departs
finally left yesterday.
Kemarovo suffered engine flooding earlier this year and engineers spent weeks draining the ship and preparing the bulk carrier to be towed across the Atlantic.
The Canadian tug Tignish Sea will pull the disabled ship to Liverpool, England where she will discharge oil and drilling equipment.
And from there another tug transport the Kemarovo back to Russia.
In other shipping news, Monday was a busy day for the US Navy as five vessels anchored offshore the Island to allow civilian visits.
The USS Mitsher , USS Arleigh Burke , USS Deyo , USS Stump and USS Cape St.
George all spent the afternoon crowded together at Five Fathom Hole before departing later.
On the docks, Oleander arrived on Monday with 124 dry and 38 refrigerated containers, 12 cars, one boat, one go-kart, three office trailers, and four road trailers of structured steel.
Tomorrow the Bermuda Islander is scheduled to arrive from Salem, New Jersey with 84 dry and 25 refrigerated containers, and two boats.
And last week the Atlantic Bulker delivered a load of sand for the Bermuda Government.
