Four new jobs as Schroders expands
concentrating on real estate investments in the Asia/Pacific region, according to executive vice president, Peter Everson.
It is the latest area of growth for the local office of one of the world's premier international investment banking and fund management groups.
The Bermuda office has just hired four more Bermudians, bringing the predominantly local work force to 28.
"We've had growth in a couple of areas and the staff has grown over the years,'' said Mr. Everson.
Schroders has enjoyed a very successful track record thanks to its global staff of 5,500.
The Bermuda office provides investment management services to institutional and private clients and conducts the management and administration of the group's venture capital operations.
Staff here also manage several investment holding companies on behalf of the group.
Mr. Everson said: "The new operating division for real estate investments parallels our venture capital group, which we started in 1983.
"At that time it was one fund. But now we have 26 funds and about $3.5 billion under management, requiring dedicated staff here to look after that business.'' Meanwhile, new staff includes the addition to the venture capital team of Margret Heyliger, who is specialising in venture capital fund administration for Far Eastern and German clients.
She was previously at Aon Risk Services (Bermuda) Ltd. and is at level 4 of 5 of the CGA programme. Also joining the venture capital team is Andrew Richardson, specialising in venture capital fund administration for European and North American clients.
He was formerly at Scott Hunter & Co. and brings six years of audit and related experience to the team.
Lloyd Fray has just joined Schroders (Bermuda) Ltd. as information technology (IT) manager, having previously worked at Cable & Wireless plc, where he was responsible for systems and network management.
He has obtained a number of industry certifications and has a wealth of IT experience.
Tanya Telford has joined the financial control team, and is concentrating on management reporting for the Bermuda group, after having previously been employed at chartered accountants, Douglas J. Hillen.
