Granada sells Paris hotel to Saudi Arabian prince
Paris to Saudi Arabia's Prince Al Waleed bin Talal for 104 million ($172 million), the second sale from the Exclusive portfolio acquired last January.
The Hotel George V, one of the most prestigious hotels in the French capital, posted an operating loss in the year ended January of 0.2 million pounds.
Granada acquired 17 hotels under the Exclusive brand when it acquired Forte in January for 3.9 billion. On November 19 it sold London's Hyde Park Hotel to Mandarin Oriental International Ltd. for 86 million.
The other hotels are still on sale, including the Grosvenor House in London and the Ritz in Madrid.
Granada last month said pre-tax profit rose 37 percent in fiscal 1996 to 480 million, boosted by improved returns from Forte.
Granada gained the Meridien, Heritage and Posthouse chains as well as Exclusive from Forte takeover.
The Prince is also bidding for the acquisition of the Princess hotels in Bermuda.
