Island after hiding on board a visiting cargo ship this week.

The stowaways had sneaked on board the car ship Sierra Nevada Highway while it was berthed in port at Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

When the freighter arrived in Hamilton Harbour on Monday to deliver 167 cars and 65 cases of spare parts the two men jumped ship from the rudder compartment into the sea.

But the unwanted cargo was picked up in Hamilton Harbour by Marine Police, who delivered them back to the ship where they were locked in a storeroom.

The vessel left later on Monday afternoon bound for Freeport in the Bahamas with the two men still on board. They will eventually be returned to their homeland.

Two other vessels had their visits disrupted by the effects of storms to the north and south of Bermuda.

Rough waters and high winds created by Hurricane Irene to the north of the Island delayed yesterday morning's scheduled arrival of the Nordic Empress from New York.

It is now set to arrive this morning with 1,715 passengers on board, bypassing St. George's and berthing in Hamilton, according to John S. Darrell spokesman Donald MacPherson.

The Horizon arrived on Monday afternoon from Newport News in Virginia, berthing in Hamilton with 1,347 passengers on board.

But the liner will not make its scheduled stop in Dockyard this week, again because of the rough weather the Island is experiencing.

The remaining cruise ships, Norwegian Majesty and Seven Seas Navigator were unaffected by the weather.

Norwegian Majesty arrived yesterday morning from Boston with 1,568 passengers on board.

The Bermuda Islander is scheduled to arrive in Hamilton tomorrow with 113 containers including 17 refers and one trash bin for the Island. It will leave for New Jersey on Friday.

And the Island expects the arrival of the LPG tanker Coral Acrotora this afternoon at the East End oil docks with cargo for Shell.

The Oleander arrived on Sunday in Hamilton and off-loaded 113 dry containers, 46 refers, nine flatbeds of building supplies and 23 cars.

The ship sailed yesterday morning for its home port in the US -- Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.
