Khaldun named BLDC head
Development Company's board of directors, it was announced yesterday.
Bank of Butterfield Business Banking vice president Michelle Khaldun replaces the first chairman A.L. Vincent Ingram who is to step down after serving since 1996. And she has already vowed to continue the BLDC's work at the pace established over the past two years.
First in her sights are the redevelopment of the former naval base Southside, and resorts at Morgan's Point and Daniel's Head, she revealed yesterday.
It is understood she was officially appointed at Tuesday's BLDC Annual General Meeting.
Ms Khaldun has been a BLDC director since it was incorporated in November 1996 as well as a member of the board's executive committee and finance committee chairperson. Before joining the Bank of Butterfield she gained invaluable experience as general manager of the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation.
In a written statement Ms Khaldun said she intended to build on the forward momentum established under Mr. Ingham's leadership.
She would particularly focus on development plans for an eco-tourism resort at Daniel's Head, a resort community at Morgan's Point and commercial, residential and infrastructure developments at Southside.
"I am honoured to have been entrusted with the chairmanship of the BLDC,'' she said.
