Khaldun tipped to succeed Robinson
on education when she takes up the post of Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry next month.
The appointment comes on the retirement of long time educator Dr. Marion Robinson.
An official announcement of the appointment is slated for tomorrow.
While her expertise is quite different from that of Dr. Robinson, Ms Khaldun has a background in business and banking both in Bermuda and overseas. She has held senior positions in all three of the Island's banks and also worked with Marine Midland Bank of New York.
Appointed chairman of the board of the Bermuda Land Development Company last December, it is anticipated that Ms Khaldun will retain the post when she moves to the Education Ministry.
Currently a vice president at the Bank of Butterfield, Ms Khaldun is the senior manager of the business banking centre.
Khaldun She was instrumental in the formation of the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation and in 1993 was appointed as its General Manager. Ms Khaldun has also served as senior manager of corporate banking at the Bermuda Commercial Bank and assistant manager of commercial lending at the Bank of Bermuda.
A Government spokesperson said Ms Khaldun's administrative skills would be an asset in her new post.
