Victor Kiam, the owner of Remington Products, invested in Cirrus Products, the makers of adapted ear plugs called EarPlanes.
He was persuaded to invest after his wife used them on a flight from Bermuda to help protect an ear drum problem from changes in the plane's cabin pressure.
"Sales are running about six times the level they were last March. I can see a really great future,'' said Mr. Kiam -- famous for telling TV viewers that he liked the shaver so much he bought the company.
The plastic plugs have a filter "which acts as an air lock and gradually allows air in,'' Kiam told Reuters. "This is the only non-invasive preventitive for ear pain, sinus problems, things like that.''
