The Canadian will be replaced by Bermudian Mr. Steve Marklew who takes up the job of marketing manager on June 17.

"I'm pleased with what we have been able to accomplish at the bank,'' Mr.

Lamont said yesterday. "I was hired to set up a marketing department and develop a marketing culture and provide for a Bermudian successor.

"When I first arrived here, it was an advertising agency. We have grafted other departments into it. There is more emphasis now on sponsorship, product management, marketing research and public relations to a degree.'' Having completed what he was brought here to do, Mr. Lamont said he is seeking new challenges and openly admits that he would like to pursue them here.

"I have been talking to some people locally,'' said Mr. Lamont, who was born in Winnipeg and has lived in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Dallas. "But there is nothing definite yet. My expertise is in marketing, so I would prefer something with a marketing bent.'' Mr. Lamont has not always worked in marketing specifically, and for a time he ran his own business -- a bakery, restaurant and cafe -- in Dallas.

He also managed a confectionery, dairy and grocery in Canada which reached $200 million in sales and he helped manage a print shop company involving desk-top publishing which had 20 stores.
