The company said yesterday that its long distance charges will be 15 percent cheaper than the current Cable & Wireless rates. And they claimed that it was the equivalent of having eight free weeks of long distance calls, compared to current rates.

"The TeleBermuda savings will be in addition to existing evening and weekend discounts, and on top of recent rate cuts announced by the former monopoly long-distance company,'' a press statement announced.

TeleBermuda director, Kenneth Spurling said, "This is going to be a very exciting week for TeleBermuda and indeed for all Bermudians. Lower long distance rates are going to put a lot of money in the pockets of our customers.''
