Bermudians Ms Madeline Joel, has been appointed vice president, marketing, and casualty underwriter Mr. Rees Fletcher has been promoted vice president, underwriting.

In addition, Mr. Andre Heyliger, is being appointed financial compliance officer, after working a number of years as chief financial officer for Ciba Geigy Finance & Investment.

ACE also takes a step toward increasing its presence in the satellite underwriting business by hiring Ms Inken Gerlach for the highly specialised underwriting of satellite insurance.

Ms Gerlach took up her duties at the beginning of the year after working at Munich Re, and has joined Mr. Charles Rudd.

Having arrived from Munich, Germany, she is recognised as one of the world's leading underwriters of satellite insurance and brings highly technical expertise. She holds an aerospace engineering degree.

ACE has also recruited from the American International Group Mr. Dominico Frederico to the position of executive vice president of financial lines.

Of some 60 staff at ACE Ltd., more than 50 are Bermudian. ACE Ltd. is a high end, excess liability, directors and officers and satellite insurance company.
