New link opens door to Bermuda
companies set up e-businesses through a one-stop shop Internet site.
OneStopBermuda has been set up by the e-business service provider WRSL.com and hopes to attract companies looking to find out about setting up or incorporating in Bermuda.
"There is a need for a central information access point for the international business community interested in setting up their e-business company in Bermuda,'' said Bill Storie, OneStopBermuda's co-ordinator.
The new service will act as an information point as well as a facilitator through links set up with a bank, a legal firm, professional services, telecommunications and Mr. Storie's own e-business services company.
OneStopBermuda will initially provide information about how to set up an e-commerce company in Bermuda, and then provide contacts with its new business partners at Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son, Hollis & Co, Ernst & Young and TeleBermuda International.
The service is initially free for information, but charges will be applied for further help with setting up shop on the Island.
"Bermuda has been gaining tremendous momentum with increasing global awareness of its brand name in the e-business world. As a result, the development of a quality `one stop' source for the services and skills needed within Bermuda to assist the international company creating a presence here is being introduced.'' The new company says that it believes that the main source of its new business will come from the offices of its new partners around the world.
Mr. Storie said that each of the four companies will be promoting OneStopBermuda from their offices around the world.
Jan Speiring, managing partner of Ernst & Young said: "We can take the inquiry at its very first point of contact with Bermuda from the initial advisory function through the legal formation process, technical set-up and banking services to the ongoing day-to-day administration of the e-business company.'' Pell Price, marketing manager of the Bank of N.T Butterfield & Son, also backed the project. He said: "The international companies we meet with are looking for a full range of e-business services, not just our banking products, so OneStopBermuda is the package our clients have been asking us to deliver.'' James Fitzgerald, General Manager of TeleBermuda added: "Bermuda is poised to become a global hub for e-business. OneStopBermuda provides a positive level of confidence to the overseas company that its requirements and interests are being handled by the highest level of skills available in Bermuda.'' The new company can be found at www.OneStopBermuda.com.
