New virtual book company launched

pinning its hopes for success on a new service offering hard to find business titles to its customers.

BooksonBiz.com is a specialty bookstore launched by ISI Publications, a leading publisher of specialty financial and e-commerce books.

The on-line bookseller is one of the first businesses to emerge from Bermuda-based eVentureCentre, the world's first offshore e-commerce incubator based in Pitts Bay Road.

eVentureCentre provides investment capital, infrastructure, technical and administrative services for a growing list of companies seeking to participate in the Internet economy from offshore.

It is the world's first offshore incubator and is a joint venture of a Bermuda-based member of Centre Group, part of the Zurich Financial Services Group, and Paragon, a Bermuda-based technology applications consultancy.

The business books on offer by BooksonBiz.com will not just include ISI titles, but will also list publications from other specialty publishers.

The new virtual company promises "significantly shorter delivery times than the major on-line bookstores''.

The bookstore, at www.booksonbiz.com., promises to offer the kind of publications bought by investment banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, law firms and corporations.

And it says it can offer delivery in a few days, compared to the six to eight weeks that it says other on-line book retailers usually need to source and fill special orders.

BooksonBiz.com, which accepts orders via the Internet and ships books around the world by courier, says it will also place greater emphasis on customer service than the major on-line booksellers do.

Books and newsletters on offer cost between $100 and $2,700, and the website offers customers detailed information about a book's contents.

Customers can contact Info y booksonbiz.com to ask questions about books that interest them before buying. In addition, many of the books will have a full contents list on the site.

"These books often contain time-sensitive information. Our customers want them quickly and prefer to order books on-line,'' said Sarah Barham, Managing Director of ISI Publications.

"We're taking fuller advantage of the Internet to handle orders and ship books faster.'' New on-line book company launched BooksonBiz.com says it shortens delivery time by directing orders simultaneously to the book publishers and Federal Express, which picks up shipments on a next-day basis.

While ISI Publications, the specialty bookstore's parent, uses warehouses in Tennessee and Hong Kong, the bookseller itself is virtual and has no warehouse and carries no inventory.

Books ordered from other specialty publishers are sent directly from those publishers' warehouses. ISI Publications is a specialist publisher focusing on finance and e-commerce titles largely for the corporate market.

Established in 1991, with offices in Hong Kong, the UK and Bermuda, the company says it is now poised for major expansion leveraging its client relationships, extensive author network and distribution channels built over the last decade.
