The networking organisation was formed by James Symonds upon his return to the Island from Scotland. He said it is important to let others know one's career objectives. He noted such a programme is required anywhere in the world.

He said: "Many of us limit our professional exposure and advancements within our respective function and industries. The lack of networking reduces your chances of uncovering unadvertised job opportunities.'' Mr. Symonds said that many small business failures occur because people failed to establish important contacts before hand.

But he added: "It is also unfortunate that many of us have to learn the hard way, that opportunities often aren't advertised and who you know is most times more important than what you know.

"Friends rely on friends to refer friends. At least that's how it was back in the day.

"Remember, networking is the systematic process of talking to friends, business associates and other contacts about what you are doing and where you want to go.

"It's a closed fraternity that often recycles the same players. And its this unbroken circle leading to `the hidden market' that professionals need to penetrate.'' Mr. Symonds spent six years in Scotland, and left a job teaching a computer introductory course and fitness at The Borders College. He is now in the information technology department at BELCO Holdings. He began a similar networking programme in Scotland.
