RCN's Halifax heads for Island
steaming toward the Island in need of repairs.
John S. Darrell shipping spokesman Sergio Pitcher reported that the vessel was due to arrive in Bermuda on Sunday and would undergo repair work to what was believed to be damaged radar equipment before departing the following day.
Mr. Pitcher was unable to state where the vessel was coming from and where it would be returning after it left the Island.
Meanwhile Meyer Shipping's spokesman Joe Simas announced that the Danica Red , a cable ship which has been berthed in Bermuda for the past couple of weeks, would be leaving the Island today for Curacao.
It will not end the "presence'' of a cable ship on the Island however as the Skandi Hav is currently offshore undergoing sea trials.
It is scheduled to return to the Island in the next day or two to take on supplies before setting sail for Brazil.
And on the regular shipping front, Mr. Simas noted that the Bermuda Islander was scheduled to arrive in Bermuda tomorrow with a load of 20 refrigerated containers and 100 regular containers.
Elsewhere the Oleander was scheduled to import 45 refrigerated containers and 204 regular containers, including 35 containers of Christmas trees, on Sunday.
Also set to be off-loaded from the vessel for the Island were 18 cars, two dump trucks, a boat and an excavator.
