Skipper Kirk Ward's Restless Native came off the slip at Windjammer Marine and cost around $120,000 in materials alone.

Mr. Ward's new catamaran will replace his current vessel, the trimaran Hat Trick , which will now be operated by Mr. Ward's son Steve. Both boats will run out of Dockyard's Water Sports Centre.

Restless Native , which took two years to build, involved new moulding techniques and followed the designs of California boatbuilder Kurt Hughes.

The catamaran, which boasts dinner seating for 24, a bar and grill, rotating mast and hi-tech sails, as well as a one-man operating station, can carry up to 50 passengers.

Wedco general manager George Smith said the new boat was part of the impetus behind the creation of the Water Sports Centre.

Restless Native is expected to start regular operations from April 1.

BIG CAT! -- The latest adddition to Bermuda's charter fleet, the 47-foot twin-hulled Restless Native , is seen berthed at Dockyard, ready to start plying its trade on April 1. The vessel will be skippered by Kirk Ward.
