After having no cruise ship visitors last week the Island will get extra this week because the Regal Empress was due to arrive from New York this morning.

Meyer Agencies Limited said she will berth at docks five and six with an unknown number of passengers and was due to leave tomorrow afternoon.

Meyer Agencies said the Dreamward arrived late at Penno's Wharf on Monday with 1,439 passengers and then moved to Hamilton on Tuesday morning. She was due to leave this afternoon.

The Horizon arrived late on Monday in Hamilton with 1600 passengers on board.

She shifted to St. George's yesterday morning and was also due to leave this afternoon.

The Meridian arrived at King's Wharf, Dockyard on Tuesday morning with 1,358 passengers. She was due to return to New York tomorrow afternoon.

John S. Darrell spokesman, Mr. Tim Southern told The Royal Gazette the Song of America arrived late on Tuesday at Penno's Wharf in St. George's after one of her passengers had to be airlifted off the ship the day before.

Mr. Southern said the passenger had food trapped in her throat which could not be removed on the ship and had to be taken to a hospital in New York.

He said she flew to the Island and rejoined the ship.

The Song of America moved to Number One Dock yesterday and was due to leave tomorrow afternoon. She was carrying 1460 passengers.

The Royal Majesty arrived late on Tuesday at Ordinance Island, St. George's with 1,219 passengers from New York. She was due to leave for Boston tomorrow.

She could not make it back to Boston from the Bahamas last week in time to travel to Bermuda so she had to go to New York. She transferred her passengers back and forth between New York and Boston by bus.

In other shipping news Meyer Agencies reported that the Bermuda Islander left Bermuda last Thursday for Salem, New Jersey but returned to Bermuda on Monday after encountering sea conditions resulting from Felix.

She left again on Tuesday morning and will resume her normal delivery schedule next week.

A Meyer Agencies spokesman said because of the interruption in the Bermuda Islander 's schedule they chartered the freighter Saturn to bring in the Bermuda Islander 's cargo this Saturday.

She was expected to off load 65 dry containers, six refrigerated containers and a boat and should leave the following day.

The Somers Isle arrived on Monday morning from Fernandina Beach, Florida and was due to leave today after unloading 58 dry containers, seven refrigerated containers, 33 bundles of lumber, four bundles of steel and 23 cartons of doors and windows.

The Oleander arrived on Monday morning and unloaded 130 dry containers, 36 refrigerated containers, a car and a load of structural steel. She left the following day.

John S. Darrell reported that the cement tanker Espartana which was due to leave last Friday did not leave until Saturday because of engine problems.

The SS Ultra Sea , a US flagged vessel out of Galveston, Texas, stopped at Five Fathom Hole briefly on Saturday morning to drop off a sick seaman. She left for Gibraltar, in the Mediterranean, afterwards.

The propane tanker Emsgas was due to berth at the Esso Oil Terminal tomorrow morning and leave the next day after unloading 700 metric tonnes of liquid propane.

The US Coast Guard Cutter Gentian is expected to arrive on Friday afternoon in Hamilton. The visit will give her crew the chance to enjoy some rest and relaxation before leaving the following Monday.

Meyer Agencies said the USS Strong Cajun returned to Bermuda on Tuesday to load the remaining containers from the US Naval Air Station and left yesterday morning.

And Balaton , a bulk carrier which came into Bermuda on August 7, left Dockyard on Tuesday for Tampa after completing repairs she received to her lifeboat davits and funnel.

Harnett and Richardson spokeswoman, Ms Sylvie Swainson told The Royal Gazette that the Acacia Ace ran aground off Santo Domingo and damaged her radar. She transferred her cargo to her sister ship Orange Horizon .

The Acacia Ace was due to arrive last Saturday with 112 cars and 66 cases of parts. The Orange Horizon was due to arrive tomorrow morning with that cargo.
