Simmons to lead St. John Ambulance
Simmons Jr. as the new Commissioner for St. John Ambulance Brigade.
Mr. Masefield explained the 35-year-old joined the Brigade as deputy commissioner a year ago.
And Mr. Simmons served under Mr. Arnold Botelho until he stepped down from the commissioner position earlier this year.
The father of two is a trained emergency medical technician and is the assistant warehouse supervisor for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Simmons said he was honoured to have the privilege to lead the Brigade into the 21st Century.
He also invited the public to become involved in the Brigade by becoming trained in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or actually joining the organisation.
"Anyone who wanting to serve their fellow man is welcomed,'' he added.
Executive director Delcina Bean-Burrows also announced the new course in Child Safety which will be offered later this month.
"The course which is entitled `The Basics in Child Safety' is an injury prevention initiative which is endorsed by the Department of Health,'' Mrs.
Bean-Burrows said.
She added that although everyone was welcome, the Brigade wanted to especially encourage educators, child care personnel and administrators to attend the course.
The first course will be held on September 26 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Anyone wishing more information is asked to contact St. John Ambulance Brigade on 236-7831.
