Storms delay ships: Docksiders
The Oleander arrived late on Tuesday with her cargo of 31 refrigerated and 105 dry containers, an oxygen tank, six road trailers of structural steel and an excavator.
The vessel left for Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, yesterday morning, said Container Ship Management spokeswoman Glynnis Dickinson.
And the Bermuda Islander's replacement for the week, the MV Argonaut , did not arrive from Salem, New Jersey, until yesterday morning, said Meyer Agencies' Joe Simas.
Bermuda Islander is undergoing its annual servicing in dry dock.
The substitute ship brought in 105 containers, including 15 refers, for the Island and is set to leave today.
Elsewhere, Meyer Agencies handled the evacuation of a Bulgarian crew member from the bulk carrier Malyovitka on Tuesday.
The vessel was en route from Victoria, Brazil to Canada with a load of steel when the crew member is believed to have fallen and injured his spine, said Mr. Simas.
The man was taken off the ship and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and the vessel continued on its way.
