Students prove their worth

first part of the The Bermuda Scholars Programme '98, a week-long, intensive three credit course on Global Insurance and Risk Management.

College of Insurance professor, Dr. Charles Edinger, introduced students to the important issues involved in managing risk and insurance in a global setting.

Students witnessed a panel discussion on the "Development of Bermuda as a Global Risk Market'', chaired by Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) chairman, Brian Hall.

Panellists included president and CEO of EXEL Ltd. Brian O'Hara, president of the Bermuda Insurance Institute and executive vice president of ACE Insurance Larry Lombardo, Aon Intermediaries president Joseph Rego and senior vice president of Zurich Insurance Catherine Duffy.

For the next three weeks, the Bermuda Scholars will gather data for a group study project on "the human resource needs of the Bermuda insurance industry.'' The Bermuda Scholars Programme was established by the BFIS to give exceptional students the opportunity to study the unique Bermuda insurance market.
