TeleBermuda writes letter of complaint to Logic
its own voice communications on the network.
Long distance telephone company TeleBermuda has written to Logic complaining about its LogicPhone service discontinued after just ten days operation on August 2.
Logic Communications has leased bandwidth on TeleBermuda's fibre-optic network of cabling to the US and the outside world.
But TeleBermuda is tight lipped about the threat, with manager James Fitzgerald saying yesterday: "As far as what we sent to Logic, it involves their contract.
"Unfortunately, because of that we're not prepared to discuss it,'' he said.
"We feel duty bound by the confidentiality of the contract.'' Logic has announced it will take the Telecommunications Ministry to the Supreme Court to settle whether it can provide voice communications through its equipment.
Under telecommunications law, TeleBermuda and arch-rival Cable & Wireless are barred from providing Internet access, and C&W are equally upset at the Logic move.
It is understood TeleBermuda see LogicPhone as the reselling of its licensed right to carry voice communications and are prepared to take its concerns to the Minister, Renee Webb.
The company is thought to be upset that such details as the cost of the agreement have been made public by its client.
