Top business minds visit Island

promises real gains in employee productivity, as they share with hundreds an historic message which will simultaneously be beamed around the world.

The Bermuda Employers' Council (BEC), in association with the Covey Leadership Center, is hosting an interactive global educational series "Worldwide Lessons in Leadership'' at the Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre at the Southampton Princess Hotel starting on September 12.

Top business minds will be featured including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People author Dr. Stephen Covey, The Pursuit of Wow! author Dr. Tom Peters and The Art & Practice of the Learning Organisation author Dr. Peter Senge.

Business people from more than 40 countries will be participating in the interactive closed circuit event, sponsored by the International Banking School of the Bank of Bermuda, the Bank of Butterfield, The Bermuda Telephone Company, BELCO Holdings and Cable & Wireless.

BEC programme coordinator, Clare Mello, said: "We are attracting people at a management level for the series. So far 240 people have signed up for it.'' The series promises to increase insight into changing entrenched thinking for greater vision; turning resistance into resolve; using creative cooperation to reach new levels of performance; getting things done with quality and speed; getting every employee to do something about global competition; harnessing the expert power in the workplace; and encouraging enthusiasm, pride and celebration at all levels of your organisation.

Ms Mello said: "This programme was created not just for executives, managers and supervisors, but for all employees. The series will bring an appreciation of the absolute necessity for all employees to work toward continuous improvement, total quality, unwavering cooperation and constant customer focus and show how every worker must share in the leadership responsibility.'' She said that the three authors will start the first day addressing How To Make Your Team Unstoppable. They will highlight their experiences from consulting organisational leaders and heads of state from every continent. The panel discussion will also include worldwide audience participation.

She added: "Whether you are concerned about where your country, company or career is headed, you will want to hear firsthand what these market leaders have to say.'' The interactive panel discussion will be moderated by ABC TV's news correspondent, Catherine Crier.

The BEC has allowed some people to register for the first day session (September 12) only, although the series includes presentations on October 1, October 23 and November 15.
