Worst of the weather over say forecasters
More rain and rough weather is expected tonight but the worst of the wet weather may be over forecasters predicted yesterday.
Meteorologist Declan O'Connell said there was unlikely to be a repeat of Tuesday night's downpour.
He said: "We had two and a half inches of rain on Tuesday.
"There could be quite heavy showers but we are probably out of the worst.
"The main band of low pressure has moved through the Bermuda area but by Thursday evening winds will be increasing to 30-40 knots.
"We could issue a gale warning. There is already a small craft warning.'' The Fire Brigade had 23 flooding calls between 8.30 on Tuesday night and 9 a.m. the next day.
Lt. John Thompson said: "We had extra crews on all night -- we had four pumps and three vehicles with pumps.
He said the design of some buildings made them vulnerable to flooding.
"Where they have built an apartment on top of a building the tank in the kitchen is sometimes sealed off -- we have to take the level of the tank down because so much water has fallen.
"Other places flood because the drain is blocked or they are low lying.
"If it really pounds down it will accumulate in areas.'' Harbour Radio said they had calls over Tuesday night from boaters who had to bail out their boats but no sinkings were reported.
