Writ against top lawyers

Bank of Bermuda are among six people being sued for $600,000 by a Bermuda-registered shipping company.

The writ names Mr. Nicholas Dill Jr., Mr. Richard Pearman and Mr. Frank Mutch, who are partners in Conyers, Dill and Pearman; Mr. Norman Holbrow, executive director of Bermuda Trust Company, and Mr. Gordon Howard, manager of Private Banking and Trust Development. The other respondent is Mr. Per Slettengren.

It was filed at Supreme Court on April 27 by Pacific Islands Shipping Company, which operated out of Hong Kong. All the respondents in the case are former directors of PISC.

Few details about the writ were being released yesterday but it was established that it has not yet been served.

Mr. Mark Diel, a local lawyer representing the PISC, said he had not been instructed by his client to release information on the matter.

Nobody at Conyers, Dill and Pearman would comment on the matter. Mr. Howard also refused to discuss the case.
