Aqua is reborn at Surf Side
The restaurant Aqua has re-opened at a new location at the Surf Side Beach Club in Warwick.
Aqua, which was previously based at Ariel Sands in Devonshire, staged its official opening last Friday.
Owner Claudio Vigilante, who is excited to re-open the restaurant, said: "People still call Aqua's old number to make reservations. The restaurant had a good reputation both locally and overseas."
The new location allows for al fresco dining on a poolside terrace. The menu offers light fare with simple fresh ingredients, such as local fish, as well as salads and pasta.
Mr. Vigilante is not worried about starting a new restaurant during the present financial turmoil. He said: "I enjoy the challenge of the new economic environment. You have to embrace change and give people what they want. It is important to set the ground work now and be ready for the market to turn.
"We must not forget that Bermuda's greatest value is its natural beauty."
The restaurant will offer a rewards card this month, which will offer discounts ranging from a free drink to a 20 percent discount off meals, depending on how many times the customer visits a restaurant in the group, which includes Silk, Fresco's, and Aqua.
Mr. Vigilante who came to Bermuda from London, where he worked at the famous 'Le Gavroche' restaurant 22 years ago, has been in the restaurant business all his life.
His parents had a restaurant in his native Italy where Mr. Vigilante began to help out at an early age. He explained that the menu and the quality of the food at his restaurants are inspired by home cooking. "When I go to Italy the first dish my mother makes is her secret recipe gnocchi," he said.
