Aromatherapy is defined as ``a therapeutic massage using the natural healing powers of essential oils as an aid to health in mind and body.''

This treatment works on the nervous system, and is based on a blend of essential oils and a specialized massage technique using the application of pressure points to aid relaxation and rebalance the body's system.

Only the purest of oils are used and they absorb through the skin into the tissues, eliminating toxins. All aromatherapy oils are antiseptic and antibacterial. This was proven thousands of years ago when the ancient Egyptians used to embalm their dead with aromatic essences. Centuries later, their boodies were found perfectly preserved. The oils are extracted from plants and flowers and have a pleasant scent which affects the sense of smell.

The combination of essential oils and massages, therefore, improves the general condition of mind and body, releasing tension caused by stress.

Eden clients will find three qualified therapists to choose from. Jane Bulbeck, of Sussex, England, is the supervisor, and with her nine years of experience, can be called upon to advise on all areas of aromatherapy, facials, massages, and nail care.

Helen Ryan, of Newcastle, England, brings her 10 years of experience, and specialises in electrology and manicuring. She has worked in Hong Kong and the UK, before coming to Eden.

"We plan to offer more than just pedicures and manicures,'' she says. "We'll be offering more beauty and body treatments -- the full range.'' Bridget Eccles, coming from the renowned city of Oxford, has worked at the internationally famous Champneys Health Spa in Wigginton, England. Her specialty is aromatherapy, and she finds that her clientele at Eden is beginning to grow.

"I worked at Champneys for two years, where the rich and famous would come -- people like Barbra Stresiand and The Princess Wales.'' In addition to aromatherapy training, Bridget is a trained nurse, and her experience will all combine to ensure that you feel better. Indeed, one of her former clients has referred to her as having "healing hands.'' The therapists at Eden will be using DeCleor products from France. This skin care range originated in Paris, and its popularity is now spreading to the United States and Bermuda. The range is based on aromatherapy and phytotherapy, and there is something to suit every skin type. Samples will be available.

HEALING HANDS -- A facial is one of the many services now available at Eden's beauty therapy department.
