Butterfield Bank customer Allan Porter is the winner of 150,000 British Airways (BA) miles.

Mr. Porter's name was chosen from a list of customers who made purchases on their British Airways Visa Platinum Credit Card in May 2008.

Mr. Porter said winning the 150,000 BA miles was "a great, unexpected surprise".

"It is a really nice gesture on behalf of Butterfield Bank to commemorate their 150th Anniversary," Mr. Porter said. "I have always had very good service and protection with my Visa card from Butterfield Bank.

"Of course it feels wonderful to receive these miles. Now I have to decide where I want to go and when."

Susan Mylchreest, vice-president of electronic banking at Butterfield Bank congratulated Mr. Porter on winning BA Miles redeemable on reward flights to more than 600 destinations.

"We are proud to be celebrating our 150th anniversary this year but were it not for the support and loyalty of our customers we would not have reached this significant milestone," Ms. Mylchreest said.
