Burrows Lightbourn launches drinks order and home delivery website
Burrows Lightbourn today launches its new WineOnline.bm website to offer a complete online sales and delivery service.
The drinks supplier's managing director, Richard Hartley, said it would enable customers to browse for wines, beers and spirits online, pay for them by credit card and have them delivered to their homes.
"We feel that as time goes buy, more and more people are shopping online, " Mr. Hartley said.
"Virtually everyone has a computer at home or in their office. There are a couple of other websites on the Island where you can get information and place an order, but we wanted to offer delivery as well.
"We've been working with Gateway for some time on this, we've tested the website with a group of friends and customers and we're ready to go."
Wines and beers will be sold only by the case, not by the bottle, although there will be options available for mixed cases of wine and spirits will be delivered by the bottle.
Internet users will be able to browse through more than 1,000 wines on the website, and can filter searches by country, grape or vintage. The website also allows users to view the bottle and read the label.
It also provides links to producers' websites.
Burrows Lightbourn is offering the website's earliest customers the chance to win a four-night winery experience in Sonoma and Napa Valley. To be eligible for the competition, customers need to register and purchase a case of wine before May 31, 2010.
Customers must be over 18 years of age to buy WineOnline.bm and it delivers only to addresses in Bermuda. Delivery is free, but the minimum order value is $100.
Orders placed before 12 noon will be delivered the following day or on a selected day after that.
But the company does not deliver on Sundays or public holidays.
