Business booms in Dangelini's first week

Commuters and tourists have provided the bulk of customers for a new café that opened a week ago alongside the Hamilton ferry terminal.

Dangelini's, at 8 Front Street, adjoins the Visitor Information Centre and offers light food and refreshments, including sandwiches and paninis, and freshly baked muffins and scones.

The business is run by its three partners, Daniele Pucci, Shalini Tucker — both of whom were previously at Bella Caffe in Burnaby Street — and Jessica Siggins.

Ms Siggins, a former administrative assistant with a penchant for baking cupcakes, said business had been brisk during the cafe's first week.

"It's been fantastic," Ms Siggins said. "We've had a really good mix of locals and tourists.

"We knew we probably get the tourists because we're next to the ferry terminal, a bus stop and the visitor's centre.

"It's good to see that locals are coming in too. We have some good breakfast sandwiches that are going down well with commuters."

Ms Siggins said Dangelini's was the product of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce's desire to reopen the Visitors Service Bureau with the enhanced appeal of a café atmosphere, also giving tourists the opportunity to grab refreshments and spend more time there.

Dangelini's is open from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Ms Siggins said the café would also be open on next Monday's Bermuda Day holiday.
