Butterfield rectifies double-charge fault

A number of Butterfield Bank customers received a shock last week when they opened their chequing account statements to find they had been charged twice on some items.
A spokesman for Butterfield Bank said that the bank had been affected by a technical issue last week where customers' chequing accounts were debited twice, resulting in incorrect available balances being displayed on their statements.
But they added that the issue has been rectified and any charges or fees that were incorrectly debited from these accounts during this period would be fully refunded.
