Capital G donates computers to Whitney
Whitney Institute students received a technology boost last week, thanks to a donation from Capital G.
Mr. Ronnie Viera, Senior Vice president and chief information officer at Capital G, presented 10 Pentium 4 computer systems to the school at its Friday morning assembly that was attended by M1-M3 students, teachers and principals.
Each computer system consists of the desktop component, keyboard, mouse and a 14-inch Flat screen LCD monitor.
Capital G Bank president and CEO, John Kephart said: "Capital G hopes the computer donation will provide new opportunities for the students at Whitney Institute."
Capital G recently upgraded their core banking system which left a portion of the company's previous computers available.
Whitney Institute principal Dr. Freddie Evans said: "Thank you Capital G for this unexpected donation. Our students can surely benefit from additional computer systems." It is expected that the computers will be used with the students' Reading Programme. They will be ideal for the students to browse the Internet and utilise basic Microsoft Office applications.
