Delegates fly in from Asia for CDMA conference

Telecoms talk: Pictured (from left) at last week's IRT Bermuda Conference are Karen Delanty, Secretariat Qualcomm; Federico Nienstadt, CDG representative and carrier relations manager for China and India; and Kurt Eve, chairman and CEO of Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd. (BDC Ltd.), which operates under the name of CellularOne.

Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd. (BDC Ltd.), which operates locally as CellularOne, kicked off the 2010 IRT Bermuda Conference at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

The three-day conference last week focused on CDMA technology, the latest advances on that network and how it affects carriers and vendors on a global scale.

Delegates from countries as far afield as India and Korea, as well as closer to home in the US were in attendance.

The conference was aimed at boosting existing roaming relationships between carriers and fostering new ones.

Many of the delegates extended their stay to explore the Island.
