Forbes to appear at Capital G conference
Steve Forbes, chairman and CEO of Forbes Media and editor-in-chief of Forbes Magazine, will be the keynote speaker at the first Annual Capital G Private Wealth Conference held at the Tucker's Point Resort & Spa on April 13.
Mr. Forbes, renowned internationally as an economic prognosticator, will share his unique insights in the conference keynote address on the role of "Capitalism in the global economic recovery", and will host a by invitation only cocktail event preceding the conference.
Barbara Tannock, head of Capital G private banking, said: "With Mr. Forbes as keynote speaker, it brings an interesting dynamic to the conversation - the same forces that were blamed for the collapse of global markets are being relied on to provide recovery.
"His delivery promises to be very thought provoking, certainly relevant and one from which our clients and partners will draw great value.
"We take seriously our positioning as an integrated wealth management innovator and a facilitator of dialogue on the issues impacting Bermuda's private clients. Mr. Forbes' acceptance of our invitation is true testament to that."
The conference agenda will provide delegates a timely update on the challenges and issues faced by private clients today amidst changes in the economic and regulatory environments. Conference sessions will examine the current threats to wealth growth and preservation, assess the recovering global capital markets and speak to the issues of business and estate planning and transferring Bermuda wealth to US beneficiaries.
The agenda also features a debate on writing philanthropy into estate strategy.
Dr. Lawrence Chimerine, an economic consultant for 25 years, will be the guest speaker for the conference luncheon at the Tucker's Point Golf Club. Dr. Chimerine has served on numerous governmental advisory boards, including the House of Representatives Task Force on International Competitiveness, the Census Advisory Committee, and the Economic Policy Board of the Department of Commerce. The private wealth landscape in Bermuda is currently in a state of flux arising from the substantial structural and market change and shifts in our own economic infrastructure brought about by the credit crisis and subsequent recession," Ms Tannock said.
"The speakers at this conference will address both the challenges and the opportunities presented in such an environment, while relating the global challenges to the local landscape. We are really looking forward to it."
