GMD Consulting to present on EVR system in Boston
Information technology company GMD Consulting Ltd. has been invited to present on Bermuda's Electronic Vehicle Registration system (EVR) by the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) in Boston next week.
GMD consultant and presenter Michelle Walkes said: "I am both excited and honoured to share the success of the EVR system with other jurisdictions. The information sharing and the ideas that I can bring back to the Island is truly something to look forward to."
GMD played in integral role the creation and implementation of the EVR system in conjunction with the Transport Control Department (TCD) and will highlight the key aspects at the IBTTA Conference.
Randy Rochester, director of TCD, said: "This is a great opportunity for Bermuda to show off the talent we have on island as well as highlight the success of the EVR system for others to consider in their respective jurisdictions".
The conference is entitled "The Future of Tolling: Going Mainstream through ORT and Interoperability". It will focus on lessons learned, case studies, business rules and future decision-making about "all electronic toll collection" (AETC), interoperability, violation enforcement, and implications for "vehicle miles travelled" (VMT) charging.
"One of IBTTA's primary goals is to present the best experiences and practices on user financed transportation from around the world. We are very excited to learn about Bermuda's experiences with their Electronic Vehicle registration program and look forward to hearing about it at the upcoming meeting in Boston," said Patrick Jones, executive director and CEO of the International Bridge, Tunnel & Turnpike Association.
