Health insurance executives honoured

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings Ltd. has announced that assistant vice-presidents of risk management and client services for Darwin, a brand of Allied World US, have been awarded the designation of Fellow of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management by the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM).

Pauline Barry and Kathleen Murray were awarded the distinction for their outstanding individual achievement of professional excellence in the healthcare risk management profession.

ASHRM is a leading professional society for healthcare risk management professionals. Its designations are granted by the Board of Directors, based upon review of the applicants' credentials, such as academic/professional designation, continuing education requirements, employment experience and contributions to the field of risk management.

In their roles, Ms Barry and Ms Murray provide consulting services to healthcare policyholders of Allied World US and Darwin, helping them assess and manage their organisational risk.

Ms Barry has 23 years of experience in health care risk management and has a certificate in Healthcare Risk Management from the New England Healthcare Assembly, as well as being a founding member, past president and current director of the Connecticut Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

Ms Murray is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management with 20 years of experience in the risk management field. She is involved in both the Massachusetts and American Societies of Healthcare Risk Management and in 2006 she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Massachusetts chapter.

Ms Murray recently completed a term on the ASHRM board of directors, and is the president-elect of the Massachusetts chapter.
