HSBC Bermuda offers special rate on foreign exchange during World Cup
HSBC Bermuda customers are being offered a special rate on Sterling, Canadian Dollar and Euro foreign currency transactions up to an equivalent of $250,000 during the World Cup.
The offer, which was launched this week and runs until the end of Cup Match on July 30, includes travellers' cheques, demand drafts, telegraphic transfers and interbank transfers.
Anyone with foreign exchange needs, whether travelling, working, retiring or studying abroad, will be able to take advantage of the favourable rate.
Summer is traditionally the peak period for foreign exchange season – both for holiday makers and for people sending their children away to school or buying property overseas, with the bank typically opening more foreign currency accounts in the summer months than any other time of year. At present, the Sterling and Canadian Dollar accounts are popular.
With the current volatility of sterling, many people are purchasing pounds and Euros and holding them in their accounts, for which HSBC Bermuda offers accounts for seven different currencies.
HSBC Bermuda is the Island's largest foreign exchange bank with competitive rates offered at all of its retail branches.
Customers are encouraged to call their branch in advance and let them know their requirements due to the bank having to order large amounts and denominations based on customer needs. They can also carry out transactions online if moving funds to another account.
Meanwhile premier customers with Global View can access their HSBC accounts throughout the world and transfer money instantly from one account to another, without incurring any charges.
The bank also has a daily markets commentary on the overnight markets which is written in Bermuda and circulated to more than 475 readers per day.
Anyone interested in receiving the HSBC Bermuda commentary can visit www.hsbc.bm and go to foreign exchange services to sign up.
