HSBC's Harbourview building is officially opened
HSBC Bermuda unveiled its new flagship Harbourview building to popular acclaim yesterday.
A large crowd of staff and customers gathered on the top and bottom floors on the building to watch the launch, which included a line-up of dignitaries from Governor Sir Richard Gosney and Premier Ewart Brown to John Campbell, chairman of the HSBC board of directors, HSBC CEO Michael Geoghegan, Philip Butterfield, CEO of HSBC Bermuda, and Alan Burland, of BCM McAlpine.
Mr. Geoghegan then cut the ribbon to mark the official opening at the building's Front Street entrance to cheers from a captive audience.
Mr. Campbell talked about the design features of the building with its modern feel in a historic setting and would further improve the bank's service to the community and contribute to Bermuda's economic prosperity.
Mr. Geoghegan paid tribute to the role of HSBC Bermuda and the Island within the context of the global financial services industry, before Mr. Butterfield added that the new building marked a new era for banking in Bermuda and affirmed the bank's position as the Island's leading financial services provider.
