Hunts have grand plans for Bistro 12

b<>High hopes for Walker Arcade eatery: New Bistro 12 owners Donte and Kelly Hunt.

Donte and Kelly Hunt have taken over the Bistro 12 restaurant in Hamilton's Walker Arcade with the aim of transforming it into a lively spot that will stay open in the evenings.

Renovations, including the installation of a new bar, are planned and the rebranded eatery will serve as a place to showpiece the work of local artists.

The first artist to be featured will be Mrs. Hunt, a professional photographer.

"It's a great location, but is in need of some upgrading," said Mr. Hunt, a businessman and United Bermuda Party MP.

"There's a beautiful ambience, with the courtyard and tourists like to walk through the arcade. And the Bank of Bermuda HSBC will soon be opening next door.

"We're not going to change anything yet, in terms of operations. But we're looking to get the renovations done by the end of the year and then the changes will come in phases."

The restaurant will close for the renovations, at a date yet to be determined, and will take around two weeks.

Among the innovations will be a martini bar, which will offer in the range of 20 to 30 different martinis and a full cocktail list, Mr. Hunt said.

Live music, tapas and gourmet treats are also among the options planned for the new-look establishment, as well as freshly-baked bread and pastries and a catering service.

Mr. Hunt added that the all-day breakfast that has proved popular with existing clientele is likely to be maintained.

The Hunts are in their second week of operating the business.
