WASHINGTON (Bloomberg) - Boeing Co. won a contract to build a satellite for Intelsat Ltd., the operator of the world's biggest satellite fleet, that will serve commercial markets and the Australian military.
The contract's value wasn't disclosed in the release issued today by Pembroke, Bermuda-based Intelsat. Dianne VanBeber, a spokeswoman for Intelsat, declined to provide a price.
The satellite is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012 and will serve network and media customers in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The satellite will also be used by the Australian military, Intelsat said. The launch provider has not been named.
