Bermuda-based Ironshore has recruited another former American International Group (AIG) executive with the appointment of Michael Sharis as regional executive of the northeast region.

Ironshore has taken on at least eight ex-AIG employees since December 2008, including Mr. Sharis, the most notable of which was CEO Kevin Kelley.

Mr. Sharis will be based in the company's Boston office, reporting to Steven England, executive vice-president of Ironshore Insurance Services LLC, who oversees US field operations. Mr. Sharis will be responsible for business development in the northeast corridor, representing Ironshore's suite of products within its various specialty insurance divisions.

He most recently served for six years in the specialty casualty group of the national branch of Lexington Insurance. An insurance industry professional for more than 12 years, Mr. Sharis was previously a production specialist with the company's northeast risk office for two years, and has been an environmental underwriter in the AIG Boston regional office.
