Light trading on BSX
Local stocks were unchanged yesterday, as Butterfield Bank dominated the day's thin trading activity on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX).
The bank's common shares remained on $5.05, after 9,300 shares changed hands.
Butterfield's preference shares, sold in June at $1,000 apiece to help the bank achieve a $200 million capital raise, also traded yesterday. They remained on $1,250, as 53 changed hands.
The only other domestic company to see trading activity was the Ascendant Group Ltd., owner of power company Belco. Ascendant stayed put on $16.50 on the trading of 2,000 shares.
The Royal Gazette / BSX Index closed the day where it had started on 2,305.79.
The BSX Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies rose for a fourth straight day, climbing 6.59 points, or 0.7 percent, to 929.84.
