LOM surges 14%

LOM Holdings Ltd. rocketed more than 14 percent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading yesterday to help local stocks inch higher.
The offshore investment specialists gained 50 cents to close on $4 — a 52-week high — on the trading of 1,000 shares.
The only other domestic issuer to trade was Butterfield bank, which remained on $5.15 as 900 shares changed hands.
Butterfield's preference stock also saw some trading action, as 10 shares changed hands. Their price remained unchanged on $1,225.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 5.83 points, or 0.25 percent, to close on 2,321.66.
Meanwhile, the BSX Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies, fell by 0.9 percent to close on 917.24.
