Minister off to Sri Lanka

to the 41st Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Sri Lanka, Government announced yesterday.

Also attending are Shadow Health and Social Services Minister Ms Renee Webb, Independent Sen. Alf Oughton and House Clerk Mr. James Smith, who is secretary to the Bermuda branch of the CPA.

The conference is held in two sections, with meetings for small countries on October 5 and 6 and the main conference running from October 7 to 13.

The theme of the conference is: "Democracy and Development: Adversaries or Allies?'' About 250 representatives of 127 Commonwealth Parliaments and legislatures are expected to attend the conference.

The small countries conference is for 30 Parliaments and legislatures in Commonwealth countries with populations smaller than 400,000.
