Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd. estimates net losses of between $75 million and $100 million from last month's earthquake in Chile.
The Bermuda-based reinsurer also estimated its net losses from European windstorm Xynthia and the recent Australian hailstorms will be less than $10 million. The preliminary estimates are pretax and net of reinstatement premiums.
Montpelier added: "In view of the uncertainties associated with this initial estimate, particularly the limited number of loss advices received from clients to date, actual losses may differ significantly from the estimate."
