M&S appoints Bolland CEO

LONDON (AP) — British retailer Marks & Spencer Group PLC said yesterday it has picked Morrisons supermarket CEO Marc Bolland take over as its new chief executive next year.

Bolland will succeed Stuart Rose, who will continue to serve as chairman of the food and clothing retailer. Rose has said he will leave the company by July 2011.

Bolland, 50, joined Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC as chief executive three years ago. Previously he was chief operating officer at brewer Heineken NV in the Netherlands.

The date when he will take over at M&S remains to be determined, the company said.
