Bermuda-based oil drill operator Northern Offshore Ltd. achieved a 17 percent rise in net income last year to $75.1 million.

The earnings broke down to 49 cents per share and compared to $64.1 million or 42 cents per share in 2008.

Fourth-quarter net income was also higher at $17.4 million, or 11 cents per share, compared to $16.6 million, or 11 cents per share in the prior year period.

The company said fourth-quarter results included a $1.1 million charge related to an executive separation agreement.
