September's retail sales fall

While motor vehicles and service stations held their own over the same period, registering a .01 percent increase because of slightly higher service station sales.
Car dealers saw a slight decline, though some establishments recorded strong increases due to higher inventories.
Sales in the category of combined store types were fractionally off the pace, while shops catering to locals and visitors experienced a general decline.
Demand for local clothing, accessories, and pharmaceuticals was also flat, as was overall demand for household appliances.
Meanwhile food and liquor sales were down by more than 2 percent.
Residents returning from overseas during September declared purchases valued at $2.48 million, unchanged from the previous year.
The price for a tank of gas went up this week. The Finance Ministry announced that the price of gasoline has risen by one cent per litre. Meanwhile diesel and kerosene fell by 1.7 cents and 1.4 cents per litre respectively. The changes mean the maximum prices per litre for the fuels are now: gasoline, 118.5 cents; diesel, 93.7 cents; and kerosene, 72.9.
