Sutherland to replace Williams
Sutherland as general manager and controller of foreign exchange yesterday.
His appointment will take effect from July 1 after he relocates to Bermuda from England.
Mr. Sutherland will replace Malcolm Williams who resigned on March 31 after nine years as general manager.
Bermuda Monetary Authority chairman Cheryl-Ann Lister said yesterday that Mr.
Sutherland had been acting as a consultant to the Authority since September last year.
"He has extensive central banking experience as a result of his 29 years employment with the Bank of England including 15 years at senior levels in prudential supervision,'' she said.
"Since leaving the Bank of England, Mr. Sutherland has undertaken a wide range of projects internationally, as an independent consultant dealing with banking supervision and wholesale markets regulation.
"These included reviewing the banking supervision arrangements in the Crown Dependencies on behalf of the UK Government, as part of the recent Edwards Review.'' BUSINESS BUC
